The WTS 6-1-142 is a single event filtration system. The particulate sample is collected onto a 142 mm membrane filter (not included) by drawing ambient water through the filter holder with a rotary pulse pump located down stream of the sample. Sampling is triggered by either a start date/time or by a count-down timer, and the system is capable of delivering up to 25,000 liters per deployment.

The menu-driven software allows the user to enter the initial flow rate, total volume, maximum pumping time, and minimum flow rate. To prevent the particulate sample from being crushed onto the filter, the software is designed to decrease the flow rate when back pressure on the filter is increasing.
