McLane Moored Profiler (MMP)
A complete MMP Software Distribution is available on CD from McLane.
The distribution includes the current version of the MMP Firmware, Users' Manual, sensor
manuals, Crosscut communication software, MMP data processing software, a ballasting
spreadsheet, and a selection of published papers describing the MMP.
Numerous MMP units have been shipped all over the world. More than half of those are
currently deployed in (or have already been recovered from) the Atlantic, Carribbean, North Pacific, and Arctic Oceans.
Three papers describing the MMP, have been published and are available for download. The Oceanology 2000 paper
provides a detailed description of the Moored Profiler design, however, the system has matured considerably since that paper
was written. The OCEANS 2000 paper provides a further overview, with illustrations, of the system and its capabilities.
Finally, the OCEANS 2001 paper describes the results of a short but highly successful deployment on the south flank of the
Hawaiian Ridge during January of 2001. Engineering and sensor data are presented in the paper and in the
MMP Photo Gallery.
McLane offers a hands-on course in Moored Profiler operation. MMP owners and prospective owners are invited to spend one to two days at our facility in East Falmouth, MA, USA. We will provide several
hours of interactive instruction and discussion. Participants will have the
opportunity to work hands-on with an MMP in our laboratory. The laboratory portion of the course will include operational
bench testing, deployment programming, launch and recovery in our 15 meter test well, and data offload.
